How to Use Geographic and Interest Rate Placeholders in Website Modals

The Modal Module made available in Yabber is an incredibly powerful feature that provides enormous flexibility in how and when we interrupt the funnel in order to provide appropriate course correction. The system is supplemented by a linking feature that permits you to link directly to any modal manicured within the system. In order to gain a better appreciation of the ease of use and sophistication of the tools, you should review the 'Related Modal FAQs' at the bottom of this article. This FAQ will look at how to include geographic and interest rate placeholders into modals returned to a user.

In reading this FAQ there's an assumption that you have read the FAQ on creating a modal.

  Location Placeholder Text

Location placeholder text is evaluated in any modal of any type - this includes Geographic modals. The facility to convert placeholders effectively converts any modal into a Geographic Modal (although it'll just be placeholders that change rather than the entire modal).

Available placeholders are as follows: %%city%%, %%state%%, and %%country%% (the State is the most common and generally broad enough to return good accuracy). The country_code, latitude, and longitude, and postcode are also available but very rarely used. Used anywhere in modal content, these placeholders are replaced with resolved data when returned to a user. The location is resolved on the basis of an IP address so it's often invalid, but it's accurate well over 90% of the time. As an example of a modal that displays the State, we used the %%state%% placeholder at the bottom of the Commbank modal .

At the time of writing we're updating the Location API to return more accurate results.

  Interest Rate Placeholders

Interest Rate placeholders are archived in an FAQ titled "What are the Lender Data Placeholders?". The placeholders listed in that FAQ are by no means extensive, but they're the most common - this particular set of placeholders will always list the lowest rate for a particular type of lending.

Use the Placeholder text in the editor when you create a modal and it'll be converted to the current lowest rate of type when returned to a user. An example rate modal is as follows . It's obviously very basic - the expectation is that you'll create something a little fancy, and you should obviously be mindful of your siloed compliance obligations.

When you created your modal, there was an option that asked if this was a 'Lender Specific Modal '. If selected, a menu was returned where you were required to select a specific lender associated with the modal. If that modal is shown and includes placeholders, the rates shown will resolve to that specific lender rather than all your accredited lenders.
