It is 29 kilometresnorth west of Deepwater and south west of Tenterfield and 61 kilometres from Glen Innes (South-East). It is situated on a plateau known as the Mole Tablelandin close proximity to the Queensland border on the Northern Tablelands. Torrington is now serviced by the New England LAC.
