The favicon is a small icon that identifies your website and brand by way of desktop shortcuts, the URL address bar, search results, and so on. Our internal website linking architecture will also apply a favicon to outgoing links – they’re used for a very large number of applications.

This video provides a general overview of the Favicon module, and provides guidance on sending your first suite of icons to your website.

Multiple icons should be created on your website in different shapes and sizes to cater for the specific devices accessing your content, such as the various types of smartphones, tablets, and desktops that your audience is using.

Since version 4.3 of WordPress, the CMS has supported basic favicons, but the system is limited in the types of icons it creates, and it’s difficult to update and maintain. Yabber circumvents this issue and creates a full suite of icons, and they’re sent to your website in seconds. When new icons are required, Yabber will evaluate the active set of icons on your website and simply update the code with newer icons that might be required.
