Sending Video to Social Media with Instagratify

We all know that Video is a highly effective marketing tool, and we all know that we should all be using it. Instagratify is designed to share those short and meaningful videos a super-simple process. Brokers have information fed to them via Lenders and aggregators every day, and you're exposed to new scarious and products routinely. While you might find this information rather mundane, it's the kind of content that, when shared, starts to expose your expertise and authoritativeness in the market... and it's the type of actionable content that keeps your audience informed.

This FAQ doesn't discuss the video discussion format or strategy. Instead, we'll focus on the mechanics of the Instagratify video module. The article assumes familiarity with Instagratify, so if you haven't already, read "How to Use the Instagram Hashtag-Based Social Media Sharing Module".

Creating a video with Instagratify is easy. You are required to simply create a short video, attach it to an Instagram video post (not a Reel), and Send. Based on the options provided in Yabber or the shortcodes in the post content, an optional watermark thumbnail, progress bar, and title, will be applied. This FAQ introduces how to create these short videos.

Social Accounts: We've found that the most suitable destination for regular video content is your Facebook Pages and Groups, LinkedIn personal and company profiles, and your website. The fact you're creating the video in Instagram serves to assign value to your presence on that platform. If you're approved, and if defined in your filtering profile, Yabber will also send the Instagram videos to YouTube.

Client Usage: We encourage our clients to use Instagratify regularly, and there's an expectation for those in various managed programs that they'll keep to a creation schedule. It takes less than a minute to pull out your phone, record it, and send it - it's not hard.

Vista: The most common method of sending content to social media is via the Outlook-integrated Social Media calendar. Read more about Vista in an FAQ titled "Sending Content to Social Media from Your Vista Social Calendar".

To use Instagratify, it is assumed that you have connected Facebook to Yabber, and you have attached your Business Instagram Account to a page.

While we've used Facebook and LinkedIn as the demo video destinations, Instagratify video may be sent anywhere - including YouTube.

  How Instagratify Video Works

Sending video to various social media networks from the Instagram-based Instagratify module is no different to posting images or groups of images. You upload a video, apply some Yabber tags that tell the system what to do with your video, and it will post. Various optional features are applied to the video manufactured for social, such as a watermark, progress bar, fading, and a heading. In advanced cases, you can apply background music - it's an extremely versatile system given that it's just an Instagram post that we start out with.

Instagratify Video Hashtag Instructions and Settings

The Settings panel allows you to define various defaults that will be applied to each and every video, so if a certain feature is set to apply by default that is not required, a hashtag is used to remove the feature from being applied, and if the default settings are not applied, the hashtag is used to include the feature.

Available Instagratify hashtags and instructions are shown below. The tags aren't exhaustive.... we'll introduce the tags for music and vertical video in other FAQs.

#watermark

If the watermark is not set by default, the #watermark hashtag will force the watermark to be applied. If the watermark is applied by default, you may use the #nowatermark hashtag to exclude it. Either way, and if you ever forget what options you've saved, you can use #watermark at any time.

#progress

If the Progress Bar is not set by default, the #progress hashtag will force the progress to be applied. If the progress is applied by default, you may use the #noprogress hashtag to exclude it. Either way, and if you ever forget what options you've saved, you can use #progress at any time.

#fades

The #fades option is not available in your Social Settings. If you would like the video to fade in and out, use the #fades hashtag. While the fade time may be altered, it's a little complex and tends to devalue the system, so stick with the defaults.

[heading]

The heading is applied to the top of the video as follows: [heading: This is My Heading].

#bmusic_{id}

Applying music to the video is less than ideal because we have to define a track and volume, both of which are challenging to do with basic text commands in an Instagram post. It's an advanced feature that we'll introduce in another FAQ, so it's best avoided for the moment.

  Creating the Instagram Post

The Instagram post is created as a post - not a Reel (that's another module). The screenshots below show how we went about creating our example. We have a progress bar and watermark to be render by default, so if we didn't want these features we would use the #nowatermark and #noprogress hashtag. Conversely, if the option wasn't defined or it was set to return no value, we would have used #watermark and #progress to include them. Note that in our first example we've excluded a heading - this will come next. Remember, the fade-in and fade-out feature is not defined in Yabber by default, so if we want the fade applied we must use the #fades hashtag.

Share Instagram Video Post

Pictured: The Video should be shared as a Post and is treated very differently to a Reel. Edit your video using the Instagram controls as necessary and then Share. Ensure you include the applicable distribution hashtag in your post. The title is used as a title in your Website Social Archive and when shared to various networks, and the title is different to a 'heading' which is applied to the actual video.

Showing each step tends to overcomplicate the process. We simply follow the bouncing ball, ensuring that the video is created in a 'Post'.

  The Result

The result of the video as shared to Facebook is as follows:

Instagratify Video Shared to Facebook

Pictured: The result of the video sent to Facebook. Note the watermark in the bottom right and the progress occupying a small area to the lower portion of the video (it shows the progress of the video). The video will also fade in and out.

The LinkedIn result is virtually identical. The LinkedIn container title is provided by way of the title shortcode of [title: Instagratify Demo, Watermark and Progress Bar].

Instagratify Video Shared to Facebook

Pictured: The result of the video sent to LinkedIn. Note the watermark in the bottom right and the progress occupying a small area to the lower portion of the video (it shows the progress of the video). The video will also fade in and out.

When send to your website as part of the social media archive it will render as a standard HTML5 video.

Instagram provides limited editing features for scaling video posts, so if you would like to use a square video, you shoot should it in a 1:1 format. In the example below, the resulting video will show a watermark, progress bar, heading, and it will not fade in and out (I've excluded the #fades hashtag).

Instagratify Square Video

Pictured: Instagram provides limited editing features for scaling video posts, so if you would like to use a square video, you shoot should it in a 1:1 format. The Instagram text above will result in a video that includes a watermark, progress bar, heading, and it will not fade in and out (I've excluded the #fades hashtag).

Instagram includes its own editing options, including a facility to add text . Usage of these tools will not impact the resulting Instagratify options (although you should keep the area clear for the watermark and other heading if used).

The result on Facebook:

Instagratify Square Video on Facebook

Pictured: The square video as sent to Facebook. The system is imperfect, so common sense prevails when including a Heading. Keep it short and descriptive, and be mindful that Instagratify is meant to be simple, so advanced text options are generally avoided.

The result on LinkedIn is similar.

You will see that in the resulting video and text sent to both Facebook and LinkedIn (or anywhere else), everything after the space-dot-dot-space marker was removed, and this behaviour was discussed in our primary Instagratify FAQ.

  Advanced Options

There are plenty of advanced options that we built in simply because we could, and not because we should. We've avoided introducing these features but may come back to them in another FAQ. Certainly, the music feature requires an introduction, but Instagram provides a music option so it a little redundant.

Yabber's Property Modules - currently available to only those managed RE clients - are quite good, and the automated video tools create slideshows, include animations, returns custom text in various ways, and generally produces a high-quality video without effort. Being mindful of the power of Generative AI options (including our own), we're working to ensure that we provide a solution that will scale in all operations.

  Video is Still King

There's a lot of competing messages in the marketplace, and a ton of noise that seeks to draw your attention to the next 'big thing'. Ignore the fluff on the periphery and work with what works, and right now, that's unquestionably video. Those of our clients (managed or otherwise) that use Instagratify (or video in general) regularly are the highest-performing on our books, and the video usage and strategic use of social clearly plays a big part in their ongoing organic success.

It was very difficult to refrain from content strategy and tactical video usage in this FAQ. Ensure you review the applicable video discussions.

  Related Social Media FAQs

Yabber's Social Media modules are very extensive. Some of the social features, systems, and modules, are shown below.

We've shared FAQs that showed you how to create Wistia video customisations, sharing profiles, turnstiles, and postroll CTA profiles (all linked below). This FAQ will show you how to update an individual video or all videos that are part of a project.

  About Wistia

Wistia is a third-party service that provides videos hosting for a monthly subscription. It is quite costly, but the platform does provide for three free videos and we encourage all our users to sign up for this offer.

Wistia provides a large number of integrated video features that enable far greater insights into video performance when compared to platforms such as YouTube, and the level of statistical data returned for each user is significant.

Yabber integrates with Wistia in such a way that we effectively emulate most features of that service. This tight level of connectivity enables features such as the email collection turnstiles (or email capture form 'gates' within a video) to be used for engagement and not just consumption.

This FAQ should be read in company with those listed below since when you're updating a video you'll generally update all of the profiles shown at the same time.

Wistia features may be referenced under this article in the 'Related FAQ' section.

Wistia: You may sign up for a free account on Wistia at Wistia.com . Ensure you follow the FAQ on connecting the API and Webhooks to fully enable all of Yabbers features.

Wistia Source - Yabber/Wistia or Elementor

In a previous FAQ we detailed how to apply customisations to an embedded Wistia Video. In order for Yabber and/or Wistia options to override the values defined in Elementor, you should navigate your way to the 'Settings' panel and define your preferred source via the 'Website' option.

If the source is set to 'Elementor', all Yabber and Wistia options are ignored, and if set to Yabber, all Elementor options are ignored.

Using Yabber profiles and options are obviously preferred since you may globally update all videos as required, and options can be applied without messing around within your website.
